Hi Everybody,

Hope you like the new developAid. We've recently been hacked and have had to rebuild the site from scratch. We've instigated a security policy and should be better equipped to beat off any attacks from now on.

DevelopAid does not need to run any special browser add-ons to be utilized fully, so if you do get any requests to run a strange program then don't click on it, and please let us know as soon as possible. mail at developaid dot org

We'll be putting alot more info onto the site over the next couple of weeks, so if you'd like to add anything onto the site, then just e-mail us, or post directly in the forum. I'd really like to hear any of news, topics, products etc from the IET conference in London regarding emerging medical technologies in the developing world. Our hope is that DevelopAid becomes useful tool, so feel free to say what you think.

Best regards

Matt & Dave

Welcome to DevelopAid DevelopAid is a centre for information on equipment that is specifically designed, or has proven itself suitable, for use in developing and third world locations. We are currently concentrating on medical equipment and building the functionality of the site. However we are also looking into green power generation on scales suitable to supply a small clinic or a major hospital.

Please explore our Links where you can find some great knowledge resources on procedures, technologies and techniques that are geared specifically to Developing World locations. We will also be linking to information sources on new technologies, such as Wi-Fi, that are being used to particularly good effect in remote and difficult locations.

In our Equipment section you can find New Products that are commercially available, you can enquire through DevelopAid and we will refer you on directly to manufacturers as required. DevelopAid do not add anything to the list price of any of the products that we showcase. Some manufacturers may pay us a sales commission, as they would to any distributor or their own sales force. This commission is what keeps DevelopAid running, so please order your purchases through us.

In our News and Articles sections you can find information on products that are in development, products reports, stories of projects that highlight how application of suitable equipment has been successful, aswell as some case studies on how things often do not go to plan. If you have an article that you would like to include please submit it to us. mail at developaid dot org

If you are involved in this field at all it is really important that you register as a user and complete as much information in your profile as you can. We are in the process of building a database of people who are active in this area. It is only through building an open communtiy that we can achieve most effectively at ground level. Our aim is to provied a useful forum through which real improvements can be made in the appropriate nature, and sustainability of the delivery of aid. So perhaps you'd like to tell us if is DevelopAid neccesssary and how we could be useful?

Introduction

In the spring of 2001 Dr. David Peel of Ashdowne Consultants, UK, undertook a preliminary survey of Oxygen Concentrators.
